Abstract: The exploration about the mysterious spirit of Chinese calligraphy has beencompleted between the Jin and Tang Dynasties, and“the orthodoxy of Tao”(道心) which carries the essence of Confucian and Taoist thoughts, connects the subject and object of artisticactivities, and embodies metaphysical implications, is a central concept of it. It is related to thetwo terms Fa Dao (法道, abiding by the Tao) and Ben Xin (本心, in accordance with the heart), and the connotations within it involve the order and rhythm of time, the layout and sequence ofspace, and human relations and laws in the ritual and musical cultures of the pre-Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties, thus creating the philosophical contents of Chinese calligraphy and making itpossible to achieve the philosophical profundity and artistic subtleness.
