Abstract: Zhou Long, a Chinese American composer who is well known both at home and abroad, has been deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture in his musical compositions, especially thePianobells, which was composed in 2012 under the influence of the ancientpre-Qin text Classic of Mountains and Seas and the Tang poem Listening to the Monk Jun from Shu playing the Guqin, is one of his important masterpieces. This paper aims to explore the traditional cultural connotations of Pianobells through an in-depth analysis of its musical ontology and performance techniques.
