Abstract: First established in 1998, Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) has grown into one of the most successful and profitable sports that are highly popular among college students. Following the organizational forms of other professional basketball associations, cheerleading is also an essential part in the basketball game. Cheerleaders in abasketball game can not only show the features of sports aesthetics in the dance art, but also highlight the beauty of dance through their body movements. Sports aesthetics is a subject studying the essential characteristics and rules of sports beauty. Based on theories about sports aesthetics, this paper analyzes the Guidelines for the Final Cheerleaders Trial in the 23rdChinese University Basketball Association Division I Basketball League Match and videotapes of basketball matches by literature review, case study and observation, coming up with methods to improve the artistic expression of cheerleaders in CUBA. In doing so, this paper aims to contribute to the popularization of cheerleaders and spreads sports culture among college students.
