Study Developments on David Mamet’s Plays in China
Abstract: David Mamet’s plays have been arresting attention from increasing number of scholars ever since they were introduced into China in the 1980s. The study process into Mamet’s plays can be classified into three stages: the introductory stage in the 20thcentury, the development stage from 2000 to 2010 and the further development stage from 2011 to 2016, and the study emphasis and the target plays vary on different stages. On the first stage the emphasis concentrates on the introduction of the playwright and his plays; the second witnesses the combination of introduction and deeper study but study perspectives are limited and the last stage shows that the study on Mamet and his plays are becoming mature in that it is conducted from multiple perspectives with more played involved.
